Rameck, George, And Sampson Might Have Easily Followed Their Childhood Buddies Into Drug Selling, Gangs, And Jail As They Grew Up On The Tough Streets Of Newark, New Jersey. The Three Lads Struck A Deal Among Themselves That They Would All Become Physicians After Learning About Prospects In The Medical And Dentistry Fields At A Presentation At Their School. In Spite Of All The Obstacles They Faced Along The Road, The Three Were Able To Achieve With A Lot Of Perseverance And Support From One Another. This Younger Version Of The Popular Adult Novel The Pact, Which Was Retold With The Aid Of An Award-winning Author, Is A Hard-hitting, Strong, And Uplifting Tale That Will Resonate To Young Readers All Around The World.
Rameck Hunt, Sampson Davis, And George Jenkins Attended Seton Hall University After Growing Up In The Same Newark Neighbourhood. Jenkins Earned His Dental Degree At The University Of Medicine And Dentistry, While Davis, Hunt, And Hunt All Acquired Their Medical Degrees From The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Essence Lifetime Achievement Award Went To The Three Physicians. They All Still Reside In Newark.
Sampson, Rameck, And George Are Locals Of Newark, New Jersey’s Poor And Violent Neighbourhoods. Despite Coming From Loving Homes, All Three Of The Boys Experience Violence, Drug Use, And Gang Participation As They Grow Up. Before They Graduate From Primary School, All Three Writers Feel Pressure To Adhere To Society’s Assumption That They Would Lead A Life Of Crime Since Academic Accomplishment Is Uncommon. Even As Young Youngsters, They Have Experienced Serious Fights And Robberies As Well As Run-ins With The Authorities.
The Pressure Of Drugs—either Taking Drugs To Satisfy Social Pressure Or Selling Drugs To Get Fast Cash—is A Significant Aspect Of The Lives Of The Three Companions. They Observe Drug Traffickers Abusing Other People And Endure Addicts’ Teasing. Sampson Spends A Month In Juvenile Jail After Taking Part In A Scheme To Steal From Less Skilled, Younger Drug Traffickers. Rameck’s Relationship With Drugs Is The Closest Since His Mother Battles Addiction.
The Three Lads, In Particular Rameck, Are Concerned About The Negative Impact Of Their Neighbourhood Mates. One Day, A Dispute Between Two Nearby Juvenile Groups Swiftly Turns Into Unchecked Gang Violence, With Shots Fired At Rameck. Although Leaving Hurts, The Boys Must Say Goodbye To Their Primary School Pals In Order To Grow And Continue Their Schooling.
The Lads’ Lives Have A Good Outlet Thanks To Music And Theatre. As A Child, George Discovers A Love For Shakespeare And The Symphony And Likes Travelling On Excursions Planned By Miss Johnson, A Teacher Who Is Anxious To Educate Her Children To Cultures Outside Of Their Own Community. A Theatre Club Adviser Offered To Send Rameck’s Portfolio And Headshots To Agents So He Might Pursue Acting As A Career; However, The Funds Intended For This Endeavour Were Instead Used To Support His Mother’s Drug Addiction. Later, While Still In College, The Pals Collaborate To Create Their Own Hip-hop Songs And Perform At Clubs. Though They Briefly Contemplate Careers In This Field, They Finally Determine That Science And Medicine Are The More Secure Employment Choices For Them.
The Three Companions Are Lucky To Run Across Professors And Mentors Along The Road, Some Of Whom They Find In Classrooms And Others In Less Expected Places. When Sampson Breaks His Foot At The Age Of Six, The Er Doctor Who Treats Him Develops A Relationship With Him. Observing Sampson’s Enthusiasm For Science, The Doctor Thoroughly Describes The Recommended Course Of Action And Allows Sampson To Review The X-ray Images. George Receives Advice On His Future Career From A Dentist Who Is Delighted To Discuss What Physicians Do, How They Are Trained, And Even How Much Money They Earn, In Addition To His Dedicated Third-grade Teacher, Miss Johnson. Rameck, Like George, Has A Motivating Elementary School Teacher Named Mrs. Hatt Who Recognises His Talents And Supports Him In His Academic And Theatre Endeavours. Rameck Also Meets Reggie, A Local Who Teaches Him Some Chinese Philosophy And Martial Arts, Who Turns Out To Be A Very Odd Mentor. He Learns About Meditation And The Practise Of Mind-quieting Via Reggie.
Their Camaraderie With One Another Is Ultimately What Saves Their Lives And Safeguards Their Futures. Each Guy Struggles On His Own To Enrol In A Magnet School That Is Unique Among The People They Know And Is Intended To Help Them Get Into College. They Are Both A Little Lonely When They First Go To University High School Since They Had To Leave Their Old Neighbourhoods Behind. Once They Start To Get Along, They Realise That They Have Each Finally Found Someone To Share Their Hopes And Anxieties With.
The Title Of This Book Was “We Beat The Street.” Dr. Sampson Davis, Drs. George Jenkins, And Rameck Hunt, Together With Sharon M. Draper, Were The Authors. The Story Included Three Children Who Grew Up In The “Hood.” A Seedy Area Of The City Where They Saw Shootings, Drug Use, And Other Unusual Occurrences. One Of The Sharpest Students In Their Class, These Three Youngsters Were Advised Not To Display Their Intelligence For Fear Of Seeming ‘stupid’. But Once They Entered High School, They Had Objectives.
Anyone Who Like Things Where They Can’t Really Predict What Will Happen Next Will Enjoy This Book, In My Opinion. I Found It To Be Intriguing And Unpredictable.
The “Hood” Was Home To Three Lads Called Rameck, Sampson, And George. They Saw Drug Use, Murder, And Other Unusual Things For An Iowan. When They Were Still Little, All Three Of Their Fathers Had Abandoned Them. Their Mother Worked 14-hour Days While Raising Them, Barely Scraping By. In Newark, New York, The Three Attended A Separate Primary School. When They Were Young, They Were Exposed To Children Who Believed That Learning Was Foolish And That Running About Town Seeking Older People To Sell Drugs Was The Proper Thing To Do As They Grew Older. Some Of Them Had Already Started To Do It.
According To Rameck’s Account, He Engaged In Conflict When Someone Refused To Follow His Instructions, Which Eventually Got Him Into Difficulty. One Of The Smartest Students In His Class, He Hid His Intelligence For A While. He Congregated Among Those Who Used, Sold, And Dealt Narcotics On A Daily Basis. For A Brief While, He Even Managed A Drug Business For Seniors.
For The Most Of His Young Life, George Kept To Himself. Being Clever, In The Opinion Of Those Around Him, Was Foolish. He Loved His Instructor Because She Took Them Places, Recognised What He Was Going Through, And Recognised His Intelligence. He Was Sitting Alone One Day On The Bus Returning From The Field Trip When The Teacher Asked If He Would Like To Sit Beside Her. He Agreed. She Questioned Why He Did Not Respond To The Questions That She Knew He Knew When They Began Conversing. He Said That If That Happened, The Youngsters Would Beat Him Up Because They Would Believe He Was Superior To Them. That Is The Silliest Thing I Have Ever Heard, She Said. The Majority Of The Children Stopped Chatting And Turned To Look At Her As She Spoke Rather Loudly. He May Do As He Pleases, The Instructor Continued, And She Will Watch His Back.
As George Grew Older, His Mother Brought Him To The Dentist To Get His Crooked Teeth Corrected, And That’s When His Dreams Began To Materialise. George Would Inquire When The Doctor Pulled Out Various Instruments As To What They Were And What They Accomplished. The Doctor Told Him Everything With A Grin On His Face Since He Was Astonished By How Interested He Was. The Doctor Replied That He Would Return In Two To Three Weeks Once He Had The Test Results, Adding That He Was Eager To Meet Him And Could Not Wait. George Informed His Mother He Wanted To Be A Dentist When He Was Older While They Were Driving Back To Their House.
Sampson Was Another Youngster Who Was Unaware Of His Ambition. He Had An Older Brother, And One Day As He Was Leaving To Join Around With His Buddies, Sampson Urged Him To Take Him Or He Would Tell His Mother And He Would Be Grounded. Okay, But Just Keep Out Of The Way If Anything Happens And Don’t Make Me Seem Bad, His Brother Instructed Him. Sampson Had A Plan Of Action. They Went To The Park And Sat Down On The Seat There. They Saw How Filthy The Park Was And How Careless The Visitors Were As They Gazed About. They Choose To Alter That. They All Began To Gather Items And Put Them Away. They Attempted To Pick Up And Replace A Cement Bird Feeder That Had Fallen On The Ground When They Came Upon It. When Sampson And His Brother Attempted To Raise It, They Were Unable To Do So Since The Object Weighed About 180 Pounds. It Landed Directly On His Foot. When The Shoe Began To Bleed, His Brother And Friends Brought Him Home. His Mother Was Upset With His Brother For Leaving Him And Acting So Foolishly. While His Brother Was Left To Do All Of The Various Duties On His Own, Sampson Was Allowed To Sit In His Mother’s Bed And Watch Television For Days.
When They Were Younger, The Three Of Them Attended Various Elementary And Intermediate Schools, But There Was A High School That Only Admitted Students Who Were Bright And Behaved Well. Sampson And George Succeeded When They Were In Seventh Grade Two Years Before, But Rameck Succeeded Later When They Were Supposed To, In Ninth Grade.
They Did Not Put Out Their Best Effort While In School, Instead They Played Around And Sometimes Completed Their Schoolwork. Trying To Be The Man Everyone Finds Hilarious. When The Three Boys Were Passing A Kid Carrying A Bottle Of Silly String One Day, Rameck Grabbed It And Approached The Instructor Who Was Berating Him. She Had A Piece Of Silly Thread In Her Face When She First Opened The Door. They Fled After Realising They Had Gone Too Far This Time. Five Minutes After Hearing Their Names Called At Work, They Poked Their Heads Inside The Door To Make A Call To Their Parents. Later That Day, Police Arrived At Rameck’s Door To Transport Them Downtown. The Instructor Spoke Throughout The Trial And Complimented Him On His Intelligence, Saying That He Just Needed To Consider His Behaviour. If He Did The Proper Things, He May Succeed. The Instructor Did Not Bring Any Complaints Against Him And Let Him To Return To Class. After That, Rameck, George, And Sampson’s Attitudes Changed, And They All Decided To Attend Seton Hall After Talking To A Man Who Said That It Was A Very Affordable Institution Where They Could Acquire The Education They Desired. The Three Guys Received Acceptance To Seton Hall At The Conclusion Of Their Academic Career And Went On To Pursue Medical Careers. Sampson Serves As A Normal Doctor And Treats Patients With Anything From Stomach Ailments To Broken Skulls, While Rameck Has Access To A Dentist And An Emergency Physician.
The Three Lads Had Difficult Experiences In College; They Got Into Conflicts That Almost Resulted In Their Being Expelled Or Prosecuted And Rendered Permanently Unable To Return. But They Succeeded, And When They Walked Up To Get Their Certificates, Their Parents Were There, Beaming And Crying Happy Tears. They Were Very Proud Of Their Children. They Received Letters Informing Them Of Their Employment Prospects Just Before Their Graduation. They Were Separated And Told They Wouldn’t Be Together Forever After Being Moved To Three Different Locations. However, When Sampson Saw His, He Didn’t Like Where It Was And He Remembered His Youth. He Checked Online And Discovered That His Hometown Was Hiring For An Emergency Medical Post. When He Phoned Them, They Instructed Him To Fax His Information Immediately, And Off He Went, Back To The Location Of His Birth, Where He Had Broken His Foot, And Where He Would Now Work To Support Himself.
