Antoine De Saint-exupéry (1900-44). Antoine De Saint-exupéry, An Intrepid Pilot And Lyric Poet, Captured In His Writings The Solitary And Mystical Grandeur Of The Early Days Of Flying. He Created The Amusing Children’s Story “The Little Prince,” As Well As Descriptions Of Perilous Aerial Excursions.
On June 29, 1900, Antoine-marie-roger De Saint-exupéry Was Born In Lyon, France. He Contributed To Setting Up International Airmail Lines In The 1920s. He Was A Military Reconnaissance Pilot During World War Ii.
He Fled To America In 1940 When The Germans Took Over France. In 1943, He Returned To The Air Force In North Africa. On July 31, 1944, He Lost His Life When His Jet Was Shot Down While Doing What Was To Be His Last Reconnaissance Mission Over The Mediterranean Sea.
Southern Mail, Saint-first Exupery’s Novel, Chronicled The Life And Death Of An Airmail Pilot. In 1929, It Was Released In French. He Also Wrote “Night Flight” (1931), A Book About The First Airline Pilots, And “Wind, Sand, And Stars” (1939), A Book In Which He Talks About His Emotions While Flying Over The Desert.
Saint-exupery Wrote “The Little Prince” (1943), Which In A Manner Is Truly A Children’s Novel For Adults, When He Was Living There. It Is A Kind And Contemplative Novel That Recounts The Tale Of A Youngster Who Lives By Himself On A Little Planet.
The Wisdom Of The Sands, The Author’s Last Collection Of Observations, Offers A Glimpse Into His Ideas On The Purpose Of Life (1948). After The Pilot Passed Away, This Book Was Released.v
I Beg The Youngsters Who May Read This Book’s Forgiveness For Dedicating It To An Adult. He Is My Closest Buddy In The Whole World, Therefore I Have A Good Excuse. There’s Another Reason, Too: This Adult Can Grasp Everything, Even Literature For Kids.
He Lives In France, Where It Is Chilly And He Is Hungry, So That’s My Third Excuse. He Needs To Be Encouraged.
If Any Of These Arguments Are Insufficient, I Will Also Dedicate The Book To The Young Person From Whom This Adult Was Raised. Although Few Remember It, All Adults Have Once Been Kids. So I’ll Change My Dedication:
When I Was Six Years Old, I Once Came Across A Stunning Illustration Of An Ancient Forest In A Book Titled True Stories From Nature. It Was A Photograph Of A Boa Constrictor Suckling A Prey Item. This Is A Duplicate Of The Illustration.
The Text Stated: “Boa Constrictors Do Not Chew Their Prey; They Just Devour It Whole. Following That, They Become Immobile And Slumber For The Subsequent Six Months Required For Digesting.”
I Then Gave The Jungle’s Exploits A Lot Of Thought. And With Some Coloured Pencil Practise, I Was Able To Complete My First Drawing. My First Drawing. It Appeared As Follows:
I Displayed My Creation To The Adults And Enquired As To If The Drawing Worried Them.
However, They Replied: “Frighten? Why Should A Hat Cause Somebody To Feel Afraid?” I Did Not Depict A Hat In My Drawing. It Was An Image Of An Elephant Being Consumed By A Boa Constrictor.
But Since The Adults Couldn’t Grasp It, I Did Another Drawing: I Depicted The Inside Of The Boa Constrictor So That The Adults Could Plainly See It. They Want Explanations For Everything. My Second Drawing Was As Follows:
This Time, The Adults’ Answer Was To Suggest That I Give From Painting Boa Constrictors, Both Inside And Out, And Instead Focus On Geography, History, Mathematics, And Grammar. That’s Why I Gave Up What May Have Been A Wonderful Painting Career When I Was Six Years Old. By My Drawings Number One And Number Two Failing, I Had Been Discouraged. Adults Never Comprehend Anything On Their Own, And Having To Constantly And Endlessly Explain Things To Them Is Exhausting For Kids.
I Eventually Decided To Pursue Another Career And Became An Aviation Pilot. I’ve Travelled The Globe A Little Bit, And I Can Attest That Geography Has Been Quite Helpful To Me. I Can Tell China From Arizona At A Look. Such Information Is Useful In The Event That One Becomes Lost At Night.
Over The Course Of My Life, I Have Come Into Contact With A Lot Of Individuals Who Are Interested In Important Issues. I’ve Spent A Lot Of Time With Adults. I Have Had Close, Personal Encounters With Them. And It Hasn’t Done Anything To Change How I Feel About Them.
In His Introduction, The Narrator Describes Himself As A Guy Who Discovered As A Young Kid That Grownups Lack Creativity And Comprehension. He Is Presently A Pilot Who Has Made A Desert Crash Landing. When A Little Child Approaches Him And Requests A Painting Of A Sheep, The Narrator Complies.
The Youngster, Who The Narrator Refers To As The “Little Prince,” Is Shown To Be From A Very Tiny Planet, Which The Narrator Mistakenly Thinks To Be Asteroid B-612. The Tiny Prince Tells The Narrator About His Life Throughout The Course Of The Next Several Days.
The Prince Spends His Time Removing Baobab Saplings From His Asteroid-planet, Which Is Little Larger Than A Home, In Case They Get Large Enough To Swallow The Small World. A Human-shaped Rose Appears On The Planet One Day, And The Prince Falls Deeply In Love With Her. The Prince, However, Finds Her Conceit And Demands Intolerable And Departs.
The Prince Visits Many Asteroids That Each Have An Adult Who Has Been Reduced To A Mere Function. The First Is A Ruler Who Demands Allegiance But Has No People Prior To The Prince’s Arrival. A Arrogant Guy Who Just Craves Admiration From The Prince Is The Only Resident Of The Next Planet. The Prince Then Encounters A Drunk Who Confesses That He Has To Drink In Order To Forget How Embarrassed Of Drinking He Is.
The Prince Meets A Businessman On The Fourth Planet Who Claims To Be The Owner Of The Stars, Making It Crucial For Him To Understand How Many Stars There Are. The Prince Then Meets A Lamplighter Who, Despite The Fact That His Planet Rotates So Quickly That Dark And Dawn Both Happen Once Every Minute, Obeys Regulations That Force Him To Light A Lamp Every Evening And Turn It Out Every Morning. The Prince Eventually Lands On A World Where A Geographer Lives.
However, The Geographer Has Little Knowledge Of His Own Planet Since His Only Job Is To Document What He Learns From Explorers. When The Prince Cites A Flower, The Geographer Responds That Flowers Are Not Documented Since They Are Fleeting When The Prince Is Asked To Describe His Home World. The Small Prince Should Go To Earth, According To The Geographer.
The Prince Encounters Two Creatures On Earth: A Snake That Claims To Be Able To Take Him Back To His Kingdom And A Flower Who Informs Him That Humans Lack Roots.
He Stumbles Onto A Rose Garden And Is Devastated To Discover That His Favourite Rose Is Not, As She Had Said, The Only One In The World. Then A Fox Informs Him That If He Hooks Up With The Fox, Or Tames The Fox, They Would Be Special And A Source Of Delight To Each Other.
It Was Such An Odd Sensation To Read The Little Prince. It’s Wonderful. It’s Amusing. It’s So Cute. Kids Find This Book Fascinating Because They Can Identify To Being Perplexed By Grownups And The Jokes That Are Made At Their Expense And Somewhat Condescending Attitude Towards Adults.
I Had To Pause For A While As It Dawned On Me That I, Too, Engage In Insane Behaviour While Laughing At The Crazy Grownups And The Ridiculous Things They Do.
The Deeper Meaning Of This Prince’s Charming Journeys To Several Worlds Got Me To Thinking. The Tiny Prince’s Total Perplexity At How Grownups Behaved Presented Me With A Number Of Intellectual Challenges. I Like Stories That Make Me Rethink My Assumptions.
One Of Them Just Floored Me: If Sheep Eat Flowers That Have Thorns On Them, What Use Are Thorns? I Do Not Know. My Natural Inclination Is To Explain Genetics Or Evolution. However, It Is Not The Issue. I Hadn’t Understood That The Thorns Are Useless.
Maybe As We Become Older, We Just Stop Asking Questions Because We Think We Already Know All There Is To Know About Science, Math, And Other Topics. I Do Still Have A Lot To Learn. I Must Ascertain The Purpose Of Plant Thorns.
According To The Little Prince, Adults Love Numbers And Prefer To Get To Know Someone By Asking Questions That Have Numerical Solutions As Opposed To Queries About Important Issues (Like Getting To Know Their Personality). Here Is A Numbered List Of The Many Kinds Of Grownups He Encounters On Each Planet To Show That The Young Prince Is Correct:
The Tiny Prince’s Perspective On Love Is My Favourite Aspect Of The Story. What Makes Something Essential To You Is How Much Time You Put Into Caring For It. The One Rose You Nurtured Has More Significance Than A Vast Rose Garden. Like The Fox Says, Keep In Mind This Reality.
A Little Boy Named The Small Prince Has Golden Hair And A Chuckle That Sounds Like “A Bunch Of Little Bells.” He Is Serious And Inquisitive, And Once He Asks A Question, He Never Lets Go Of It. He Lives On An Asteroid Known As B-612, Which Is A Miniature Planet. Three Knee-high Volcanoes, Including Two That Are Active, Are Present There, Along With A Deadly Baobab Seed Infestation.
The Little Prince Tends To A Special And Gorgeous Flower That Lives There As Well. But She Fails To Reciprocate His Adoration Out Of Pride And Vanity. The Little Prince, Who Is Unhappy And Lonely, Leaves His Little World In Search Of Fellowship And To Discover What Is Really Essential In Life.
His Intergalactic Adventures Make Him Aware Of The Stupidity Of Adults Who Have Lost Sight Of What Is Important And Are Preoccupied With Unimportant Issues. Then, While Still On Earth, He Encounters And Is Befriended By A Fox Who Teaches Him The Skill Of Seeing With His Heart Rather Than His Eyes. “What Is Vital Cannot Be Seen,” The Prince Learns.
By The Time The Little Prince Encounters The Narrator, Who Is Stranded In The Sahara Desert, He Has Mastered The Skills Necessary To See Clearly And To Take Good Care Of Those He Loves. As He Becomes Friends With The Pilot, His Position Changes From One Of A Student To One Of A Teacher As He Aids The Pilot, Who Has Lost The Significance Of Life.
At The Age Of Six, The Narrator Dreams Of Becoming A Famous Artist. The Grownups In His Life, However, Are Unimpressed By His Initial Attempt And Advise Him To Try Something More Rational. He Thus Matures And Develops Into A Pilot Thinking About “Serious Topics.”
However, He Never Feels At Home In The Adult World. He Lacks Conversation Partners And Feels Misunderstood. In Essence, He Is Alone. In The Most Unexpected Location—a Remote Region Of The Sahara Desert, Where His Jet Has Crashed—he Encounters The Little Prince. It’s Unclear How Precisely The Little Prince Came To Meet Him, But It’s A Happy Coincidence.
The Little Prince Has Been Looking For A Solution To The Loneliness Problem. After Discovering It, He Tells The Narrator The Solution. The Narrator Learns The Meaning Of Friendship And How To See The World With A Sense Of Wonder Via His Meeting With The Little Prince.
He Has The Ability To See With The Heart, To See Beyond The Surface, And To Determine What Is Really Important. A Smaller Sheep May Be Hidden Within The Drawing Of A Box, A Little Prince Lives On A Little Planet And Loves A Flower, And The Stars Laugh Like A Thousand Tiny Bells, Among Other Things. But Perhaps Most Importantly, His Creativity Is Revived.
Asteroid B-612, The Planet Of The Little Prince, Curiously Experiences The Enigmatic Blooming Of The Rose. The Flower, According To The Little Prince, Is Unique To His Planet And Only Blooms There. She Is Conceited, Obstinate, And Demanding, Yet She Also Has Moments Of Gentle Kindness And Charms The Little Prince.
Despite All The Prince Does For Her, She Does Not Exhibit Any Love Or Gratitude, Which Leaves The Prince Feeling Very Alone. He Leaves His Planet To Look For A Way To End His Loneliness Because Of Her. The Little Prince Learns That There Are Many Flowers On Earth That Resemble Her. She Is An Everyday Rose. But With The Fox’s Assistance, The Prince Learns How To Love Her And View Her In A New Light.
The Fox, Who Shows Up Sitting Under An Apple Tree, Is The Little Prince’s Second Encounter With An Earthling. The Fox Is More Intelligent Than Any Other Creature The Little Prince Has Met Thus Far. Beginning With A Lecture On What It Is To Care For And Need Someone,
He Offers Advice To The Little Prince On The Virtues Of Love And Friendship. This Is Being “Tamed,” He Says. In Order For The Young Boy To Be Really Special To Him Amid All Other Little Boys, He Begs The Little Prince To Tame Him. He (The Fox) Will Thereafter Stand Out To The Prince Among All Foxes.
The Fox Then Divulges The Key To Understanding And Loving One Another. He Says, “One Can Only See Clearly With One’s Heart.” “What Is Necessary Is Not Seen By The Eye.” He Also Warns The Little Prince That Everyone He Tames Is Under His Control.
The Snake Is The First Creature The Little Prince Meets After Falling To Earth. The Creature Is The Same Light Gold Colour As The Sahara Desert’s Sand. The Snake, While Being “Thin As A Finger,” Is Lethal And Poisonous. He Can “Transport You Further Than A Ship” With Only One Meal,
I.e., Into The Afterlife. However, He Is Aware Of The Little Prince’s Fundamental Purity And Innocence. The Snake Offers The Prince Assistance If And When He Decides To Return To His World Rather Than Harming Him. The Little Prince Is Intelligent Enough To Be Afraid Of The Snake,
But Once His Time On Earth Is Through, He Turns To The Reptile. The Little Prince Must Utilise The Snake’s Bite To Leave His Body Behind Since He Is Unable To Take It Back To His World.
