Synopsis Of Stay True: A Memoir

Stay True Is Both Hua Hsu’s Memoir Of His Life As A Young Asian-american Man And A Tribute To His Buddy Ken, Who Was Killed When They Were Both In College. Hsu Opens His Works By Recounting The Journey His Parents Took From Taiwan To The United States As Students In The 1960s And 1970s. Even Though His Parents Make An Effort To Integrate Into American Society, They Eventually Come To The Realisation That “Assimilation As A Whole Was A Race Towards A Horizon That Was Never Fixed” (P. 30). The Family Travels From Illinois To Texas When Hsu Is Born In 1977, Then To Cupertino, California, Where He Spends His Adolescent Years.
