Red Data Book PDF Free Download, According To Wikipedia, The Red Data Book Of The Russian Federation, Commonly Referred To As Red Book Or Russian Red Data Book, Is An Official Document Created For Recording Uncommon And Endangered Species Of Animals, Plants, And Fungus.
Gathering Information On Species And Ecosystems In Danger Has Always Been A Key Responsibility Of The Ucn So That Appropriate Action May Be Done. Around The Years, It Has Started And Requested Information From All Around The Globe. This Has Mostly Been Done For Species Via The Species Survival Commission’s (Ssc) Specialist Groups Or Certain Hired Persons.
A Full-time Monitoring Centre Needed To Be Established In Order To Manage And Utilise The Volume Of Data Being Received, As Well As The Requirement To Present Information In A Variety Of Ways And Ensure That Action Programmes Are Developed Quickly. I Am Very Appreciative To The United Nations Environment Programme (Unep) And The World Wildlife Fund (Wwf) For Their Moral And Monetary Assistance In Making This Possible.
I Had The Pleasure And Honour Of Contributing To The Establishment Of This Centre And Seeing It Develop Swiftly. After Gathering All The Previously Dispersed Information, It Is Now Approaching The Manufacturing Stage. All Researchers Are Aware Of How Irritating It May Be To Put In A Lot Of Effort While Receiving Nothing In Return. We Can Now See The Beginnings Of A Computer-held Data Base With Access To A Far Larger Range Of Information, Not Simply A Brand-new Generation Of Red Data Books. This Will Eventually Provide Several Outputs For Numerous Reasons, As Well As Updated Information On Individual Or Groups Of Sheets, Sorted As Necessary Either Geographically Or Taxonomically.
The Current Work Is The Outcome Of This Action, Which Required The Compiler’s Undivided Focus, Assistance From The Centre’s Administrative Staff, And Direction From The Consultants And Members Of The Specialist Group Of The Species Survival Commission. As Is Clear From The Introduction, We Strongly Depend On The Help And Support Of Our Own Knowledgeable Employees To Guarantee The Greatest Calibre Of Our Data. Can I Rely On Your Assistance?
In Particular, Jane Thornback, Who Compiled It, Martin Jenkins, Who Helped Her, Carol Hovenden, Who Was In Charge Of Managing The Text Storage And Processing Equipment, And Tony Mence, The Center’s Manager, Deserve My Sincere Gratitude And Congratulations.
The First Book Of What Has Grown To Be The Recognised Worldwide Record Of Endangered Species, The Lucn Mammal Red Data Book, Was Released In 1966. Fish, Plants, Amphibians And Reptiles, Birds, And A Book On Invertebrates Are Now Being Written.
The Red Data Book Offers Trustworthy Information In A Summary Format On Species That Are Imperilled Over The Whole Of Their Range; It Does Not Include Taxa That Are Imperilled Inside The Borders Of A Country But Are Rather Common Elsewhere. The International Union For Conservation Of Nature And Natural Resources (Lucn)’s Species Survival Commission (Ssc) Created This Reference Book. The Ssc, One Of The Six Commissions Of The Iucn, Was Founded In 19’t9 And Is Mainly Concerned With Efforts To Stop Species From Becoming Extinct And To Conserve Healthy Wild Populations In Their Natural Habitats. This Study Depends On And Is Built On Information On Species Status.
Extinct And Vanishing Mammals Of The Old World, Published In 19’f2, And Its Companion Volume, Extinct And Vanishing Mammals Of The New World, Published In 1945, Were Two Works Published In The 19’tos By The American Committee For International Wildlife Protection That The Ssc Initially Focused On The Revision And Expansion Of. The Data That Had Been Gathered Up To That Point Had Been Saved On Data Cards And Combined Into A Loose-leaf Book By The Early 1960s. The Concept To Make This Information Available As Part Of A Red Data Book Series Came From Sir Peter Scott, Who Was The Ssc’s Chairman At The Time. It Was Intended To Raise Awareness Of The Problems Facing Species Worldwide And, Most Importantly, To Inspire Action In The Battle To Rescue Them.
Mammalia, The First Book, Was Published In 1966 And Was Put Together By Noel Simon, Who Worked On It Until The End Of 1971. Harry A. Goodwin And Colin Holloway Of The Iucn Secretariat Began A Significant Revision In 1972; Fresh And Amended Sheets Were Then Published In 1973, 1975, And 1976, With Holloway Serving As The Principal Compiler. The 1978 Edition Was The Result Of Jane Thornback’s Compilation.
Prior To 1978, The Ssc’s International Network Of Wildlife Specialists Volunteered Their Time And Effort To Prepare Red Data Book Volumes On A Part-time Basis. The Books Were Loose-leaf, With Each Page Representing A Particular Taxon. The Degree Of Threat Was Indicated By A Separate Colour: Red For Endangered, Yellow For Vulnerable, White For Rare, And Grey For Indeterminate.
This Version Deviates From That Conventional Format And Has Done So In Accordance With The Model Established By The Lucn Plant Red Data Book, Which Was The First To Be Published As A Bound Book And Was Released In 1978. Although A Loose-leaf System Was Best For Private Use, Many Institutions Found It Challenging To Manage Since Pages Were Readily Removed, Modifications Were Difficult To Implement, And Understanding The Indexing Method Needed Some Taxonomic Expertise.
These Reasons Prompted The Decision To Switch To A Bound Format, Which Required Splitting The Mammal Volume Into Two Parts If The Material Was To Be Published While It Was Still Up-to-date. The Mammal Volume Now Covers Around 320 Species. This Version Includes Vulnerable Mammal Species That Can Be Found In The Americas And The Australasian Zoogeographic Area (Basically Australia, New Zealand, And The Island Of New Guinea), Since A Geographic Separation Appeared The Most Logical. In Later Editions, Threatened Species From Africa, Europe, And Asia As Well As The Cetacea, Which Are Not Included Here, Will Be Covered In Depth. The Wolf (Canis Lupus), Polar Bear (Ursus Maritimus), Brown And Grizzly Bear (Ursus Arctos), And Dugong (Dugong Dugon) Are The Four Species That Now Exist. Each Edition Will Provide Information On Their Whole Product Lines.
In Addition To Having A New Published Format, The Compilation Of The Red Data Books Itself Has Undergone Significant Modification Since 1979. The Increasing Challenges To The Survival Of The Species Have Made This Necessary. Almost Everywhere, The Biggest Threat To Wild Species Is Habitat Loss Brought On By A Rapidly Expanding Human Population That Needs More Land To Construct Cities And Villages And To Grow Food. Another Major Threat Is The Invasion And Disturbance Of Previously Uninhabited Areas In The Quest For Both Renewable Resources Like Timber And Non-renewable Resources Like Oil And Minerals In The Race For Industrial Rewards. In A Contemporary Society When A Large Portion Of The Population Is Battling Poverty While The Remainder Places Ever-increasing Demands On The Planet’s Resources, The Majority Of Species Have Not Been Acknowledged As Having Any Role To Play.
The World Conservation Strategy*, Which Was Released In 1980, Concisely Outlined The Case For Protecting Species And Included It Within The Notion Of Conservation For Development.
