This Document Is A Standard Lease For A Residential Tenancy. When They Enter Into A Tenancy With A Tenant, Landlords Of The Majority Of Private Residential Rental Units Are Required To Use This Form (Standard Lease). A Landlord And Tenant May Use The Old Or Updated Version Of The Standard Lease For Their Tenancy Agreement Until February 28, 2021. The Updated Standard Lease, Dated December 2020, Must Be Used For The Majority Of Residential Tenancies In New Agreements Signed On Or After March 1, 2021.
An Instruction Manual For Filling Out The Standard Form Of Lease (Standard Lease), Available In Many Languages For Landlords And Tenants. It Also Includes Information On Rental Regulations As Well As Landlord And Tenant Rights And Obligations Under The Residential Tenancies Act.
Once Signed, The Standard Lease Formalises A Legal Agreement Between The Landlord And The Tenant. A Residential Tenancy Agreement Is Another Name For It.
Care Homes, Locations In Mobile Home Parks And Land Lease Communities, The Majority Of Social And Supportive Housing, Several Other Special Tenancies, And Cooperative Housing Are Exempt From The Standard Lease.
Everyone Has The Right To Equal Treatment In Housing Without Discrimination Or Harassment Under The Ontario Human Rights Code.
A Right Or Obligation Under The Residential Tenancies Act (The Act) Cannot Be Removed By A Lease
This section has the names of the landlord(s) and tenant(s) who are agreeing to the tenancy.

The New Form May Be Used For Written Tenancy Agreements Signed On Or After December 3, 2020, During A Three-month Transition Period Ending In February 2021. However, Starting Of March 1, 2021, Usage Of The Form Will Be Required.
