I Knew I Would Like This Book As Soon As I Read The Little Introduction When The Author Describes How She Spent A Whole Year Inadvertently Telling People She Was Older Than She Really Was. I Often Misremember My Age And Give People Arbitrary Ages Before Realising That I Was In Fact Mistaken.

The Author Spends A Lot Of Time On Controlling Her Anxiety, Learning To Love Herself A Little More Every Day, And Overcoming Her Vices Via Exercise, Her Closest Friends, And Regular Diary Writing. Naturally, There Is Humour And Wit Sprinkled Throughout The Pages, Along With Personal Anecdotes And Practical Suggestions And Guidance To Assist You With Any Problems You May Be Having.
The Mind Rituals, The Body Rituals, And The Relationship Rituals Are The Three Sections That Make Up The Book. Each Section Serves As A “How-to” Guide To Assist You In Taking Charge Of Your Thoughts, Your Physical Self, Your Connections With Friends, Love Partners, Family, And Ultimately Your Relationship With Yourself. The Author Added Lists At The Conclusion Of Certain Chapters That Offered Practical Suggestions On How To Establish Good Habits And Maintain Them. These Lists Were One Of My Favourite Sections Of The Book.
A Lot Of The Advice Was Applicable To Me As Someone Who Has Been Going To Therapy On A Regular Basis For Over A Year Since I Have Already Been Implementing It Into My Life: Gratitude Diaries, Exercise, Finding My People, And Identifying Poison And Getting Rid Of It From Wherever The Heck It May Reside.
The Storyline Of This Book, However, Served As Yet Another Excellent Reminder To Stay The Course And Continue “Re-parenting” Yourself. Although The Path Is Challenging, Reading About Another Person’s Experience Is Helpful. Additionally, The Personal Tales And Stories Added To The Enjoyment.
The Second-to-last Chapter, “If You’re Not In Love In Paris, You’re Not In Love At All,” Was, Nevertheless, My Personal Favourite. Like The Author, I Spent A Significant Portion Of My 20s Putting Money Together For A Trip To Paris (I Majored In French History In College And Had To Go!). When I Was Eventually Able To, It Was Amazing, And I Sat In The Louvre’s Basement For Almost An Hour While Gazing At The Structure’s Original Foundation. I Cried When I Read The Footnote The Author Adds About The Lourve Foundation Because, For Me, That Event Had The Same Significance As Her Experience Buying A Chanel Bag: I Pushed To Get There. (If You Read The Book, You’ll Know What I’m Talking About.)
